Trip to Cornwall in TINKS
We took Tinks on a South West adventure over a bank holiday weekend. We started with a long drive from Larkhill to Newquay. Tinks coped fine, sitting at a comfortable cruising speed and certainly not dawdling. As we got closer to Newquay, other VWs were out in force – it was Run to the Sun weekend afterall!
After visiting family for the day (there were no hassles driving in the narrow Newquay side streets), we moved to Camelford for a two night stay. Tinks was a comfortable place to sleep and a cosy place to prepare breakfast on the fitted cooker and grill, before setting out each morning – a good job too, as we were treated to the best of British summer weather – fog and rain! There was plenty of space for two adults and two small children (who loved sleeping up in the roof).Day 3 of our trip saw us roll towards Torquay, via Plymouth. Again Tinks proved to be a relaxed cruiser, simple to drive and no unnecessary controls to get to grips with – just a 4 speed on the floor and that big wheel!
We arrived at our site, to find it was a bit of a luxury resort – deluxe caravans and premium motorhomes were in every bay, but Tinks did not look out of place and drew a lot of enquiries – people wanted to know what the “new” VWs were like to drive and sleep in and we drew more than one nostalgic tale of camper van exploits! After another comfortable night, we had to return home. With the children in their seats, the dog on his mat on the floor and all our gear stowed, we left. Another long cruise and we arrived home.
Tinks was a brilliant companion – four days away, a family of four, plus furry companion, all the accoutrements that entails and a round trip of some 300 miles. She never skipped a beat and was a great place to be. In fact, we wished we had done more camping and less driving – with the drive off awning in place and the roof up, it was ideal for two adults, two children (3 and 2) and a chunky Lab! We will certainly venture away again, if we can get a booking! A big thank you to Stonehenge Campervans!

Trip around the South Coast.
The theme for our week to Cornwall in Alice was `Fun, `Fun `Fun` and by heck we had it in abundance. We left Larkhill at 0500 hrs on Tues morning and headed down the A 303 towards Exeter, on route we stopped off at Tiverton to stock up on the basic provisions, milk, bread etc etc. Alice turned a few heads as we maneuvered through this lovely town, it was then off down the Western coast to get get as many sights in as possible. We passed a few VW Campers on route and were thrilled by their reactions, waving like mad, we then felt part of the club. On our first stop-off we stayed in Woolacombe Bay, after acting out a remake of the Chuckle Bros putting up the awning we settled in for the night, we had a great nighs sleep on a very comfortable and well proportioned bed, very deceptive. The rest of the week was taken up with touring nearly every town across the West, South and East coast of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, it beat the European holidays by a mile. Our week was made more memorable by Alice, she was a star, comfortable, efficient on fuel and unique, we are already planning our next treck to Scotland next year. Lynne and I have been married for 26 years, I would urge anyone looking at doing something out of the ordinary to restore that fun factor into their lives, go to Stonehenge Campervans, it was amazing.
Many thanks Frank and Lou,

Tinks – what can i say such a fab VW he is lovely to drive ,extremely comfortable and a crowd pleaser. We set off for our 2 night break to the New Forest which was lovely.Tinks has it all , firstly lovely and clean, equip with everything and more…….One morning we woke to a gent sat on the grass sketching Tinks,we had lots of people ask about him and also lots of waves which my little girl found very funny. You will find Tinks really economical to run and just a all round good companion.
Many Thanks Mandi
