Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction. Stonehenge Campervans hires the vehicle (including any replacement vehicle) to the hirer subject to this Rental Agreement. In making this rental the hirer accepts these terms and conditions and confirms that they will strictly comply with them.
2. Hire Period. The year is divided into high season (April to September inclusive) and low season (October – March inclusive). The standard hire period durng Jul/Aug is 7 days, Sat – Sat. If something outside of these parameters is required and availability exists then please contact us to discuss the requirements. Otherwise the minimum hire period is 2 days.
3. Cost. The cost is the same for all vans.

c. Optional Extras. These are free of charge and if required are to be annotated on the booking form.
4. Discounts.
a. Extended Hire Periods. For extended hire periods the following discounts apply. This is in addition to any other discounts we have running at the time.
(1) 2nd week – 10%.
(2) 3rd week – 15%.
(3) 4th week+ – 20%.
b. Military Discount. Due to our locality on Salisbury Plain we are offering a 10% discount to serving military. A military ID card will need to be shown on collection.
5. Booking. Once the campervans has been confirmed as available, the hirer is to submit a booking form. An invoice for the deposit or total amount will then be received and payment of the 25% non refundable booking deposit payment confirms the booking. The outstanding balance is due no later than 6 weeks prior to departure.
a. Late booking. For a booking with less than 6 weeks to go, full payment is required at the time of booking. The campervan will be advertised as available until full payment is received.
b. Choice of Van. Although we want you to have the van of your choice, we must allow for unforeseen circumstances. We reserve the right to provide you with a suitable alternative, without notice, upon collection. Should a substitute not be available, our liability is limited to a full refund of monies. We will not have any other liability to you. All rights are reserved to refuse any hire under any circumstance. No refunds are payable on accommodation, or vans not being available where a hirer changes, cancels or seeks to vary agreement after departure.
6. Cancellations.
a. Cancellation by the hirer. Please note that the 25% booking deposit is not refundable. In the event that a booking is to be cancelled the following refunds apply:
(1) 6+ weeks prior to departure. 75% refunded if full payment has been received.
(2) 6-4 weeks prior to departure. 50% will be refunded.
(3) Less than 4 weeks prior to departure. No hire charge will be refunded.
Hirers are advised to arrange their own holiday insurance to safeguard against such losses.
b. Cancellation by Stonehenge Campervans. In the event of cancellation by Stonehenge Campervans we will offer a full refund if a vehicle reserved is not available due to accident, breakdown or other circumstances beyond our control. In this event the Hirer shall have no further claim of any kind against the owners. Hirers are advised to take out holiday insurance to cover these eventualities. Stonehenge Campervans reserve the right to cancel the Hire in the event of invalid driving licences, or if our Terms and Conditions are not met. The cost of the Hire will not be refunded in this instance.
7. Collection.
a. High Season. During high season vehicles are available for collection between 2-6pm. The handover process takes approx 45 mins. If you require a different collection time outside of this please contact us and we may be able to arrange alternative arrangements to suit you. This will be on a case by case basis.
b. Low season. During low season the vehicle collection remains the same however more flexibility can be arranged to suit the hirers requirements.
c. From a local train station. We may be able to collect you from our local train stations which are Grateley or Salisbury at no cost. If you would like this service please annotate on your booking form. Alternatively we can arrange a taxi to collect you.
8. Returns. Hirers are expected to return vehicles by 11 am latest on the agreed return day. Please allow sufficient time to get back so that you do not push the van too hard trying to get back in a hurry. Vehicles are also to be returned with the interior cleaned throughout and refulled. Failure to do so will incur a £35 cleaning charge and a £15 surcharge, plus the fuel at cost. There is the option of paying 50% of the daily hire charge to haave an extended return time of 7pm.
a. Late Returns. If you over-run your insured period without prior agreement, you will be charged £40 per hour and the insurance will be exempt. Please remember you will also be affecting the holiday of the next person who has hired the van. Should the late return of the vehicle make us liable for extra costs, we reserve the right to pass on these costs to you. Charges and costs for late return will be deducted from your security deposit.
b. Early Returns. No refunds will be made for vehicles returned earlier than the agreed Hire Period.
9. Security Deposit. The hirer will be required to leave a security deposit (in the form of a cheque) of £500, this will not be cashed but held by us in a safe until safe return of the campervan. Security Deposits will be returned in full provided the vehicle is returned clean and tidy with full inventory, without damage, on time, and with a full tank of fuel. Should there be any damage, costs for any repair, replacement or special cleaning, this will be deducted from the security deposit before the balance is returned to you. In the event that there is a claim we reserve the right to retain the security deposit for a longer period as is necessary to quantify the charges incurred which are to be deducted from the deposit. Where charges are incurred which result in your security deposit being debited we will provide you with an itemised invoice detailing the charges incurred by you.
10. Your Car . During the period of the hire we will store a car for the hirer which may or not be undercover. This is limited to one car per van. Stonehenge Campervans cannot accept responsibility for the loss of, or damage to the vehicle or its contents however caused during this period.
11. Drivers.
a. Requirements. Drivers must be between the ages of 25-75, in good health*, and must have held a full UK or EU driving licence for a minimum of 2 years. Drivers from outside the EU are welcome but are required to be referred to the insurance company. Only two speeding conviction and one fault claim in the last three years is permitted for each driver, anything more has to be referred to the insurance company and may give rise to an adjustment to the hire rate.
b. Upon collection. Upon collection. We will need to see the driving licences (card and paper) for all named drivers, plus another form of identification such as passport or a recent utility bill* (for the first named driver) on collection of the campervan. You cannot drive away a campervan without us having sight of your licences and ID documents. No exceptions can be made to this. The vehicle must only be driven by you or any other person who has been authorised by us. Copies of all documentation will be taken and returned upon safe return of the vehicle.
*Good Health. You have no mental or physical disabilities which would interfere with your ability to drive, for example stroke/deafness/heart condition/diabetes/loss of limb/loss of sight in an eye/epilepsy. In addition you are taking no drugs likely to affect your driving.
*Utility Bill no later than 3 months old.
12. European Travel. We will let our vans go continental but an insurance and AA surcharge will apply. Please annotate on the confirming booking form your travel itinery.
13. Obligations of the Hirer.
a. Tyres. The cost of repairing punctures and tyre damage of any kind is the Hirer’s responsibilty.
b. Engine Care. The hirer must check the oil, water and other gauges at every 500km travelled, refilling as necessary.
c. Health and Safety. The hirer must follow the health and safety guidelines when operating the van and its appliances. The instructions for using the van and its accessories including the health and safety guideline will be given verbally.
d. Seat Belts, Booster and Baby Seats. The hirer must carry only as many passengers as there are seat belts in the Campervan. You are legally responsible for obtaining and using the correct child or baby seat. For each child under 135cm (4’5″ inches approx) or under 12 years of age you must use a booster seat. e. Smoking. It is not permitted to smoke inside our vans or tents. The hirer will be liable for any damage caused to the van, the tent or their contents through smoking.
f. Dogs. We welcome small/medium size dogs in all of our campervans. We charge £25 per pet, per hire. This is for additional cleaning. Dogs must be disclosed on our Confirmation Booking Form and only dogs that we confirm are acceptable may be brought into the campervan. All damage, however caused by the animal(s), will be charged to the hirer.
g. Keys. In the event that keys are lost or damaged the hirer will be liable for the reasonable costs of obtaining a replacement and further costs if directly related to the theft of the van.
14. Breakdown. Stonehenge Campervans provide AA Repair and Recovery Services in the event of a breakdown and you will be advised of this procedure upon collection of the van. If you have broken down you must remain at a safe distance from the vehicle until the AA Recovery Vehicle arrives. You may not abandon the vehicle at the roadside. If you have a breakdown, report this immediately to Stonehenge Campervans.
a. Hirer’s liability. If there is damage or breakdown caused by your own actions, you will be liable for the cost of repair/replacement.
b. Stonehenge Campervan Liability. If it is Stonehenge Campervans liability all repairs costing in excess of £50 must first be authorised by Stonehenge Campervans PRIOR to the work being undertaken. Anything upto £50 will be refunded on return if a receipt is provided. In all cases a replacement van may be offered but this will be subject to availability. Stonehenge Campervans liability extends to either replacing your van with a similar one or refunding your hire charge for any days you lose the total use of the vehicle.
15. Accidents. Loss, damage or theft involving the vehicle is to be reported to the police and Stonehenge Campervans immediately. You will need to return to Winterborne Stoke with the AA Relay service, returning your original campervan to collect a replacement vehicle, if one is available. You must not admit to any liability, release any party from liability, settle any claim or accept any disclaimer in the event of the accident, but should take the names and addresses of everyone involved, including witnesses. An accident or theft report form must always be completed and submitted to us when you return the vehicle. You agree to co-operate with us and our insurers in any investigation or subsequent legal proceedings arising out of any loss of or damage to the vehicle.
16. Theft. In the event of theft, the keys are to be returned to Stonehenge Campervans.
17. Liabilities. Hirers are personally liable for all road tolls, fines and legal penalties (e.g., parking tickets, speeding) which are incurred during the period of the hire. Any charges subsequently notified to us, will be immediately invoiced to the hirer. By signing this agreement, you agree to accept this. The hirer is liable for any losses or damage caused by the hirer and his/her group and Stonehenge Campervans cannot accept liability for any losses or damage or liability caused by the hirers to themselves or third parties, or their property.
18. Breaches of these Terms and Conditions. If you commit a breach of these Terms and Conditions we will have the right to terminate your booking and if you are already in the van, we may require you to vacate it immediately. A breach of these Terms and Conditions includes, without limitation, failure to comply with our instructions (about how to use the van), or health and safety advice or circumstances where your behaviour, or that of your guests or pets, is likely to have a significant adverse effect upon the van or people or property in the vicinity. In the event of you committing a breach of these Terms and Conditions no refund of the fees you have paid will be returnable to you. You will also be liable for any costs incurred in returning the van.
19. Our Liability to You. We will not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by you or any member of your party or to your or their property, except where such loss or damage is due to our negligence. If we are negligent our liability to you will be limited to the loss or damage which was a foreseeable result of such negligence. Except in the case of death or personal injury resulting from our negligence, our total liability to you in respect of any breach of these Terms and Conditions or tort or other act or omission by us in connection with this contract shall be limited in aggregate to the price agreed to be paid by you for the right to use the van for the period agreed.
